Science-backed. Warmth-led. Built around your child.
We combine the rigor of evidence-based ABA with genuine warmth. Every plan is individualized, every session is measured, and your family is at the center of every decision.
Get startedWhat is Applied Behavior Analysis, in plain English?
ABA is a science that studies why people behave the way they do, then uses that understanding to help them build new skills. Think of it less like a classroom and more like a personalized coaching system: we identify what motivates your child, break complex skills into small learnable steps, and practice those steps in ways that are natural and enjoyable.
The core principle is positive reinforcement. When a child does something that leads to something meaningful to them (praise, a favorite toy, a moment of connection), they are more likely to do it again. We never use punishment or aversive techniques of any kind.
ABA is the most extensively researched intervention for autism spectrum disorder, with decades of peer-reviewed studies supporting its effectiveness for building communication, social, adaptive, and daily living skills.
What makes our practice different
Every element of our approach is chosen with intention. Here is what guides every single session our team delivers.
Assent-Based Practice
We check for your child's willingness throughout every session. If they signal discomfort (verbally or behaviorally), we pause, pivot, and adapt. Never push through.
Family-Centered Goals
Goals are co-created with caregivers at intake and revisited every 90 days. You are not an observer. You are the expert on your child.
Evidence-Based Methods
We draw exclusively from peer-reviewed research: naturalistic teaching, incidental learning, and functional communication training.
Data-Driven Adjustments
Every session is measured. If a skill isn't progressing at the expected rate, the BCBA revises the plan without waiting for a quarterly review.
From first call to first session
Every child receives a plan built on listening, to you and to them. Here is exactly how that process unfolds.
Intake Call
A 30-minute call with our intake team to gather background, confirm insurance, and answer your questions before any commitment.
BCBA Assessment
A Board Certified Behavior Analyst conducts a full skills-based evaluation over 2-3 sessions in your child's natural environment.
Treatment Plan
The BCBA writes a personalized plan with measurable goals. You review and approve every goal before a single session begins.
Therapy Begins
Services start within days of plan approval. Your BCBA and RBT team becomes a consistent, trusted part of your child's routine.
Progress you can see, every single session
We do not guess. Every skill is tracked with data, reviewed by your BCBA, and shared transparently with your family on an ongoing, continuous basis.

What happens, minute by minute
Knowing what to expect takes away anxiety. Here is how a standard 60-minute session is structured. Keep in mind every child is different and sessions flex to meet their needs each day.
Session length can range from 2-3 hours depending on your child's treatment plan and insurance authorization. The structure below scales proportionally.
Arrival and Warm-Up
The RBT greets your child, checks in on their mood, and sets up preferred activities to build rapport and readiness.
Structured Skill Practice
Naturalistic teaching or discrete trial training, depending on the current goals and the child's energy level that day.
Play and Generalization
Skills practiced in a free-play context to promote generalization across settings, materials, and people.
Parent Debrief
The RBT walks caregivers through what was practiced and models strategies for reinforcing the same skills at home.
Data Entry and BCBA Review
Session data is entered in real time and reviewed by the supervising BCBA before the next session begins.
We know the history. Our practice is different.
Early ABA had serious problems. Rigid, repetitive session formats and, in some cases, the use of aversive or punitive procedures caused real harm. Many autistic adults have spoken powerfully about these experiences, and that criticism is valid and important to us.
At Super Sprout ABA, we practice what the field calls naturalistic, assent-based ABA. It looks and feels completely different. Sessions are play-based, child-led when possible, and rooted in genuine connection. We monitor for distress continuously and adapt in real time, every single session.
No aversives, ever
We do not use punishment-based procedures. All learning is built through positive reinforcement and natural consequences.
Assent is ongoing
We check in throughout every session. If a child says no (verbally or behaviorally), we stop and reassess.
Sessions are joyful
Therapy is designed to be engaging and fun. A child who enjoys sessions learns faster and retains more.
Identity-affirming
Autistic identity is respected. We do not target masking or suppress stimming behaviors that are not harmful.
Answers to what families ask most
A typical session is 2-3 hours and blends structured skill-building with naturalistic, play-based learning. The RBT arrives, reviews the day's goals, and works through activities tailored to your child's interests and current targets. Parents receive a brief debrief at the end of each session.
ABA is the evidence-based standard for autism spectrum disorder, but its principles can support any child with developmental delays, communication challenges, or behavioral difficulties. Our team will assess fit during the intake process.
Hours are based on assessment results and insurance authorization. Early intensive intervention often involves 20-40 hours per week for younger children; older children may benefit from 10-20 focused hours. The BCBA provides a specific recommendation after the assessment.
Most families notice meaningful changes within the first 3-6 months. Progress varies by child, starting skill level, and goals targeted. The BCBA shares monthly data so you can see exactly how your child is progressing against each goal.
All programs are designed and supervised by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), who hold at least a master's degree in behavior analysis. Direct therapy is delivered by Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), who complete a minimum 40-hour training and a competency assessment before working with any client.
Historical forms of ABA used aversive techniques that are now widely condemned. Modern, ethical ABA (like what we practice at Super Sprout ABA) is built entirely on positive reinforcement, child assent, and family collaboration. We monitor for signs of distress continuously and adapt immediately if a child is not comfortable.
No prior experience is needed. Our assessment is designed to meet your child exactly where they are. Many of our clients begin with no prior therapy and thrive with a patient, individualized approach from day one.
Yes. We serve children from 18 months to 18 years. Goals for older children and teens often focus on executive function, social skills, daily living independence, and transition planning rather than early communication milestones.
When a goal is mastered, the BCBA writes a new goal in collaboration with your family. As your child progresses, hours are gradually reduced and services are faded out in a planned way, always with your family's input and at a pace that feels right.
Significantly. Parent training is built into every service plan. You receive regular coaching on how to reinforce skills at home, participate in goal-setting meetings, and receive monthly progress reports with data. Our aim is to make every caregiver as effective as any member of our clinical team.
The team at Super Sprout ABA changed our lives. Within three months our son was communicating in ways we had only dreamed of. The BCBA kept us involved every step of the way.
